[Skip to the end of the announcement for the UPDATE.] Greetings, Saviors! As previously introduced through our dev blog and magazine, we’re preparing to launch a new kind of GvG play in TOS called the Guild Territory Wars, where you can battle rival guilds for areas of territory in selected fields. Since the Territory Wars are completely new content, before going live in all servers we will be opening a one-week beta testing period in [NA] Klaipeda in order to address possible issues and assess the players’ feedback in a more controlled environment. We chose [NA] Klaipeda because the server’s population and peak times facilitate our ability to apply live fixes when necessary, while still ensuring a good degree of participation. All guilds in [NA] Klaipeda are welcome to participate in as many sessions as they wish. If you are interested in joining the test, make sure to brush up on the rules of Territory Wars at our latest announcement and read the sections below to find out how you can contribute. Greetings, Saviors. We will soon perform a short maintenance across all servers in order to carry out the following: 1) Expand the current [NA] Klaipeda Guild Territory Wars beta test to 2 additional maps – Genar Field and Galeed Plateau (the daily sessions will take place at the previously announced schedule on all 3 maps). 2) Correct a bug that allowed players to incorrectly repeat certain quests. This maintenance is expected to take place on the following schedule: [EDT] 03:00 to 04:00 [BRT] 04:00 to 05:00 [CEST] 09:00 to 10:00 [SGT] 15:00 to 16:00 Note that this maintenance will affect all servers. We will update this announcement when maintenance is complete.
Greetings, Saviors. The following issues have recently been reported after the scheduled maintenance of April 17: 1) Visual Display Error in Leticia’s Secret Cube - Certain Rank B rewards from Leticia's Secret Cube sharing the same visual display for Rank A rewards. However, the number of items received is correct. (e.g. Diamond Anvil) 2) Game Crashes when opening the “View Collection” Menu - When viewing all collections through the "View Collection" option from the Klaipeda Magic Association NPC or when selecting the option from the hotkey, the game client crashes. We will update this announcement once we obtain more details about the errors reported. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please let us know via Support Ticket if you are experiencing other problems. When reporting issues, please be as detailed as possible. Screenshots, character/team/server/class details and timestamps would be greatly appreciated. The more information we have on a specific issue, the quicker it will be resolved.

As the new class, Retiarius, makes its way into the TOS battle scene, let’s take a look at one of their fierce opponents in the arena, the Murmillo – the “fish-fighter.” In ancient Rome, watching gladiators fight in the amphitheatres was a common pastime. What may seem cruel to us now was simply a way for the Romans to celebrate their successes and relive their victories as they enjoyed watching the combat styles of their defeated enemies. Gladiators were organized into different classes according to their weapons and fighting styles and were usually matched against gladiators with contrasting advantages and disadvantages. For example, if a gladiator was heavily equipped but slow, they may face off against a swifter gladiator with less armor. In the case of the Murmillo, their opponent in the ring was the Thraex, the Hoplomachus, or the Retiarius. The Murmillo was one of the most heavily armed gladiators at the time and was created to replace the Gaul gladiator class. Although, not much is known about these earlier Gaul gladiators, their replacement by the Murmillo reflects the development of a fruitful relationship between the region of Gaul and Rome as they no longer want to portray the Gauls as enemies. Historians suggest that the word murmillo is derived from the Greek word for fish, mormulos, with further evidence seen in the fact that their helmets would sometimes be decorated with an image of a fish. The helmet of the Murmillo, Cassis Crista, was large with an angular chest decorated with horsehair that had a visor that protected the wearer’s face. Some believe that the small eye-holes in the helmets were there to protect the wearer’s eyes from the narrow prongs of the retiarius trident. The Murmillo were also equipped with: a gladius, a roman sword with a handle made of bone; an orcea, which was a metal greave worn on the lower left leg; and a manica, which was an arm guard made of cloth or leather wore on their right arm. The Murmillo also carried a heavy shield, the scutum, that was oblong and semi-cylindrical and could not only deflect blows with ease but could also provide protective covering from shoulder to calf. The heaviness of the shield forced the Murmillo to develop different fighting techniques and to build up a hearty level of endurance as the key to their victories usually involved a great deal of patience. They fought in the defensive, using their shield to protect against overzealous attacks and waited until the opponent was open or showed signs of fatigue to make their move. Which makes me wonder if our Murmillos in game are just as patient in the heat of battle. References Alchin, Linda. 2017. Tribunes and Triumphs. Murmillones. [Online]. Coleman, Kathleen. 2011. Greetings, Saviors! We at the dev team have decided to put together a short post to refresh everyone on how to participate and enjoy our new GvG experience, the Guild Territory Wars. If you are not sure what Guild Territory Wars is all about, you may wish to read up on it by taking a glance at our previous announcements. - Popolion Post Page 24 [Link] - Announcement regarding the Beta Test [Link] Please note that Guild Territory Wars is still in a [BETA] state and these rules are subject to change. We will announce any such changes via our Official Website! [Before the War] - Select whether to take part in the wars or not through an option in the Guild window. - Please note that only the guild master will have the authority to opt in or out of Territory Wars. [The War Begins!] When the Territory Wars schedule starts, entering a Spot Area will require you to select one of two options at the green arrow in adjacent fields. Here you can jump right into the war zone, or skip the battle and enter the map as you normally would. After moving to the Spot Area, guild members can battle in true PvP style to either protect their seized Spot or seize the one held by the rival guild. Members of the guild that seized the Spot in the previous Territory Wars will be allowed to enter the Spot Area 5 minutes before the war begins to plan out their strategy. Spot Areas Spot Areas are maps where players can fight in Territory Wars, with Spots being the sections of land you can seize. According to the grade of the Spot Area, the rewards for seizing the corresponding Spot will be different. As of now, we have a total of three Spot Areas planned out (the ones in the table above), but we will consider adding more areas to the game depending on how they perform. Seizing/Protecting a Spot During the war, each Spot Area will contain a Territory Tower, with the land around it forming the Spot that can be seized by a guild. To gain hold of a Spot, guild members will need to earn points by advancing into the perimeter of the tower. The guild that currently holds the Spot, on the other hand, can fight back by reducing the points of the invaders. The final score will then determine which guild will hold that Spot during the next Territory Wars. 1) Earning Points (Invading Guild) The invading guild earns points every second according to the number of members within the perimeter of the Territory Tower. Below is a table that shows the amount of points earned by invading the Spot of the guild that holds it. 2) Taking Points (Protecting Guild) The guild protecting their Spot can deduct points from the invading guild, also according to the number of guild members within the perimeter of the Territory Tower. Here, too, the amount of points taken from the invading guild every second increases proportionally to the number of members of the protecting guild inside the Spot. 3) Final Score The first guild to score exactly 1,000 points in the war seizes the Spot. In certain situations, however, the guild may not be able to gain any more points, like in the example below. If, like in this example, two or more guilds have gathered all the conditions to reach 1,000 points, their score will no longer increase. Instead, those guilds will need to gather all of their members inside the Spot in order to win. We should note that there’s still room for improvement in the point system, but we will keep you notified of any changes. [Additional Strategies] 1) Protector Buff Guilds that succeed in seizing a Spot will receive a special Protector Buff that boosts their members’ combat abilities. Not only that, the more wars a guild manages to keep hold of a Spot, the more intense the effects of the buff will be. 2) Strategic Elements - Boss Monsters During the war, a powerful boss monster will appear, which guild members can defeat in order to receive temporary beneficial effects. These boss monsters can make a big difference in the amount of points you earn or take, becoming an important part of your guild’s strategy. We do, on the other hand, understand that there could be aspects about this feature we haven’t fully predicted, so we’re open to adjusting any rules necessary to make the system as fair as possible. - Spot Amplifier The Spot Amplifier is a structure that extends the seizable Spot beyond the perimeter of the Tower, decentralizing the dispute and allowing guilds to stack up their points through different strategies. The Amplifier can be destroyed, and the guild of the player who deals the last blow to it receives additional points as reward. - Safe Zone The delimited area around the green arrow in the Spot Area is designated as a Safe Zone, where attacks are nullified. This zone can be used for guild members to restore their stats or for other tactical purposes.
