Borutos Kapas - Future Plans

Greetings Saviors! Today we would like to address some of the issues faced by players while participating in the new Borutos Kapas content and go over some of the improvements that are currently under preparation to resolve certain issues.     Invincibility upon Entry   We are planning to introduce a brief invincibility period for players who enter Sulivinas Lair to combat against Boruta. This invincibility buff will be removed when a player moves or uses a skill in order to give players some time to prepare for the battle ahead. This feature is currently undergoing internal testing and we are working as hard as we can to have in implemented into the game as soon as possible.   Expansion of Rank Rewards   We are planning to increase the number of players that are eligible to receive Rank rewards in Borutos Kapas, which will be applied to both Guild Individual Ranks. As an example, Individual Rank rewards will be expanded to be awarded to up to a 1,000 players who have participated in the raid.     Boruta’s HP Regeneration   The dev team is well aware that the HP regeneration mechanic in place for Boruta is one of the largest factors causing players to feel fatigued while participating in the Borutos Kapas raid. We are planning to remove HP regeneration for Boruta from Monday to Friday during weekdays.     Mark: Borutos Kapas   The effects of Mark: Borutos Kapas debuff will be increased considerably. The debuff is both a mark of honor and also a means to deter the top ranking guild from ranking 1st place again in the following week. However, we have recently become aware of players’ feedback that the Mark debuff was not as effective as we had intended it to be. We are currently looking into making adjustments to the effects of the Mark: Borutos Kapas debuff in order to provide a more balanced experience for our players.     Borutos Kapas Contribution Points   The following is the current methods for earning contribution points while in Sulivinas Lair for the Borutos Kapas raid.   ※ The content below is subject to updates and modifications.   Category Contribution Dealing damage to Boruta Yes Surviving in Sulivinas Lair Yes Being under certain gimmick effects in the area Yes Defeating other players in PvP No Having dealt the last blow to Boruta No Having equipped or used a specific item No Additional earnings proportionate to the number of Guild members in the area No     That will be all for today’s dev post on the issues and resolutions for Borutos Kapas. We want our players to know that we will do our best to keep monitoring and communicating with the player base to improve the quality of the provided contents for you to enjoy.   Thank you.     ※ The contents above are works that are currently in progress may be changed in the process of development.

GM Meetup QnA Summary - May 16-17, 2017

Greetings, Saviors! As you may know, our GMs headed out to the servers on May 17-19, 2017, to meet players, answer questions and generally have fun with everyone. We’re immensely grateful to all the players who took the time to participate. Today, we are rounding up some of the questions players asked during this GM meetup to summarize a few of the topics discussed and provide some additional clarification on them. Here we go.   Combat System Changes Q. The last content update you did was considerably fast and had almost no differences from kTOS. Can we expect future content updates to happen at that pace now? A. The pace at which content is updated to iTOS will always differ according to the situation, but in cases such as big system reworks and the like, our goal is to bring them over to iTOS as fast as possible, like we did with the recent patch. Q. Saalus Convent missions feel harder than they were before the big changes. It’s only the bosses there that seem harder though; was this intentional? A. If you feel that Saalus Convent bosses became harder than before, you may want to check your defense and penetration numbers. A lot of combat-related values and calculations changed, so dealing with certain monsters is going to feel a little different. Q. How do you feel about the spike in players you saw after the combat changes, events and advertisement? A. We feel very grateful to the players who returned to TOS, those who just started playing, and of course all the others who continued to play, for the interest they have shown in our game. We certainly hope to continue providing more exciting events and working towards a fun TOS for everyone. Future Plans Q. Will you keep rebalancing other classes after the big changes? A. After the big combat changes and the character reset event, our goal is to keep improving on the specific problems of multiple classes. We briefly talked about this in our last Dossier post, so feel free to go over there to read about some of our plans for the future. Q. What plans do you have regarding GvG? When are the Regional Guild Battles coming back? If you’re thinking guild wars, we also mention a few changes we want to bring to guild contents in that last Dossier post we made, so you should definitely give it a read. As for Regional Guild Battles, they’ve been on standby for a while now, but our hope is to rearrange the format so we can bring them back for good. Please wait while the specifics are being sorted; we will announce more about the new format when it is ready. Q. What about Team Battle League? What can we expect for the future of TBL? A. It’s hard to be specific as of now, but we did discuss a few changes we’re thinking of implementing, again, in the fifth Dossier post. Please read that post for the full explanation, but in a nutshell, we want to revise both the format and the balance of Team Battle League matches. Q. When can we see Rank 9 and the new classes? A. Our goal is to release Rank 9 within this year; that’s what we’re working towards to at least. We can’t disclose any information about new classes yet, but we’ll make sure to lay out more details once we have something concrete. Q. Will the Adventure Journal be removed? A. The Adventure Journal will not be gone from the game; instead, we will be making some significant changes to how it works. We made an initial announcement about this some time ago in our official website, and we’ll continue to inform you via future announcements once more details about the Adventure Journal changes are out. Feedback Q. Do you see the feedback we leave on the forums about the latest issues? A. We always monitor the official forums and take note of the players’ feedback. We’re glad to see players discussing the issues there, and we hope you’ll continue to share with us your opinions and thoughts on the game. Q. I like Hunting Grounds, but the cube drop rates are too low. A. Item drop rates in Hunting Grounds are based on the same principles as those of other fields, so we haven’t felt like it was particularly difficult to obtain specific items in them. That said, we realize that the appeal of Hunting Grounds is largely due to unidentified items, so we won’t shy away from continuing to improve on them whenever we deem it necessary. Q. Clerics are too strong in this game, it seems like there’s nothing they can’t do. Is there a reason why only Cleric classes are like this? A. We understand why some players would feel this way, and considering that one of our goals for now is revising the balance of specific classes, the players’ feedback about them is definitely something we should keep in mind. We can’t say any changes will happen overnight, since these things take time, but do keep discussing the ways in which you would like to see each class improved. Q. Would you consider reducing the price for changing your team name? A. We may consider temporarily applying a discount for team name changes in the future during an event. However, we don’t currently have plans to permanently reduce the price. Q. We would like the option to change the name of a companion / not see the names of other players’ companions. A. We can see how those options would reduce two very real companion name-related frustrations. We do intend to improve some aspects of the game’s UI so we will take note of those ideas for the future. Bugs and Issues Q. After more people started playing in [SA] Silute, the lag became really bad, but it seems to have gotten better after the temporary maintenances. What changes did you make? A. We did notice quite an increase in the population of [SA] Silute after the big update, which caused a series of lag issues in the server. As explained in our announcement after the temporary maintenances of May 16 and 17, we added more machines to the server to expand its capacity and allow for a larger number of concurrent players. We’re continuing to monitor the situation in [SA] Silute both by checking the server ourselves and via player feedback. Q. If you write to a certain extent in the chat input window, the letters will become “hidden” in the UI and you can’t see what you’ve written. When is this bug being fixed? A. This is a bug we’re well aware of and working to fix. We don’t think it will take that much longer, and we’ll make sure to apply it to the game as soon as we have a solution. Cosmetic Q. The fashion sense of TOS costumes seems very Korean. A. As a game of Korean origin made by a Korean team, we believe it’s only natural that our costumes would be influenced by that, although we do tend to try on different concepts every time we release a new set of costumes. Feel free to leave your suggestions for new costumes in our official channels, too. It wouldn’t be the first time player feedback has inspired a new TOS outfit ;) Q. Would you consider introducing costume dyes? A. We like the idea of a costume dye that would allow you to change the color of your costume in the same way you do with hair dyes. Unfortunately this is an idea which has been postponed, as we found some unexpected obstacles inherent to how our system works when trying to develop a similar item. Q. How do you feel about a frying pan shield / candy cane rod? What about a bandana / leaf / giant bow hair accessory? [There were many more good suggestions; these are just a few examples.] A. The frying pan could very well work as a weapon, too, we think. A candy cane rod would look lovely paired with a Christmas costume or a candy hair accessory. We’re always surprised by the ideas players come up with for new items and we wish we could make them all a reality… We’ll make sure to continue creating more fun and quirky cosmetic items in the future.

Upcoming Update: Episode 14-2 / New Raid

Hello, this is Tree of Savior Dev. team. This posting is about a new episode, new content, and changing system.       Episode 14-2 and Level Expansion   With the new episode, the maximum level of the character will be increased to 480. The story will go on in Delmore Waiting Area, Hidden Passage, and Magic Association Assembly Hall (working titles).   The main goal of episode 14-2 is to find the hidden Beholder in the Delmore Waiting Area, Hidden Passage, and Magic Association Assembly Hall where you break through the Delmore Battlefield to stop him. We need your power to stop his plans!     Start of Goddess Token (Vakarine) season   The Goddess Token (Gabija) season will be over, and the new Goddess Token (Vakarine) will begin with the new contents.   Goddess Token (Vakarine) will be used when enhancing the new equipment, and purchasing items in the Goddess Token (Vakarine) Shop. Also, you will receive Goddess Token (Vakarine) from new contents.   Goddess Token (Gabija) will still be used for current systems. (Crafting Vasilisa equipment and Isidavie Accessory). Token of Goddess (Gabija) x1 can be purchased with Token of Goddess (Vakarine) x1.  Thus, you can purchase the Gabija's Authority with the Token of Goddess (Vakarine) if you exchange it for the Token of Goddess (Gabija). However, please be noted that this may change when applying it to the live server since it is in the developing stage.     Goddess: Turbulent Core   Goddess: Turbulent Core where you can meet the boss of episode 14-2 and receive new equipment will be added. This episode includes 3 boss raids and you'll first meet the Corruption Spreader (working title).    The update date for the following contents is yet fixed. ▶ Corruption Spreader Solo/Auto, Corruption Spreader (Hard), Falouros Solo/Auto, Falouros (Hard), New raid    You can receive Lv.480 weapon in Corruption Spreader,  Lv.480 Armor in Falouros, and a new type of item in the third new raid.     Lv 480 New Equipment System   Like the previous Vasilisa items, new gear starts with succession. When succeeding a Vasilisa's equipment, you can immediately acquire the Weapon/Armor of the Corrupted (working title) and 50% of the existing enhancement value (decimal point rounded off) will be succeeded. However, the armor will not be able to be enhanced until the next raid is added.   There will be a change in the equipment crafting system. Category System Remaining System Enhancement Stat Engraving Fixed Ichor Socket Appearance Change (weapon only) Evolve (weapon only) Deleting System Transcendence Enchant Awakening Set Stat New System Goddess Ichor (Random Stat)   There will be no change in Enhance system for equipment and Fixed Ichor, Gem Socket, Engraving Stat, and Applying Stat system will remain. Appearance Change system and Evolove system that were applied only to the weapon will also remain. However, you can craft the equipment with Lv.460 as usual.   Like the Isidavie accessory, the transcendence system will disappear from weapons and armor, and the Blessed Shards will be used when enhancing the equipment. In addition, system of Enchant, Awakening, and Set stat will also disappear. It has a higher main stat than before in line with the season update and disappearing stats.     The Random Stat system will change. Vasilisa was able to use after having a random stat attached to the equipment, setting the option through Magnifier, and then engraving it. But from the update, you can upgrade the random stat by engraving with the new item, Goddess Ichor, which can be acquired by gameplay. Random stat saved via the existing Magnifier can be applied to the new equipment as well.   Goddess Ichor can be received by low chance when hunting in the field or from the Challenge mode, or so. It has a higher value of stat than the existing random stat, and it can re-identify the stat of a limited number just like the Belts without the Magnifier.     Additional / Adjusting System   Flexible Party System   Monster's HP will be set variably in proportion to the number of members. Number of party members Monster's  HP 5 100% 4 88% 3 69%   HP adjustment will be applied to the Challenge Mode (Auto), Division Singularity (Auto Match), and Goddess Raid: Turbulent Core.     Share the Lottery Reward   For Silver Chest that you can receive when clearing the raid and lottery reward by low chance, the same amount will be given to all of the party members. (Not given as a box but will be given as silver when clearing) Lottery reward will also be obtained by low chance in Res Sacrae Raid and Demonic Sanctuary.     Challenge Free Mode   Challenge Free Mode, which you can play without entry count will be added. It matches with the existing Challenge Auto Match, and only 20% of the fixed seasonal coins can be received. However, Contents Point and Lottery Silver Chest can be received equally.     Contents with Level Expansion   The difficulty of non-seasonal contents such as Challenge mode, Division Singularity,  Remnants of Bernice Dungeon, Weekly Boss Raid, Joint Strike Raid, and Blockade Battle will be adjusted.     Field Boss A field boss that allows you to acquire rare costumes and season coins through field exploration rather than equipment ability competition will be added. 3 to 5 monsters will be spawned in a random field for at least 2 hours cycles, and the savior who first hit the boss will have the right to have the dropped items.   When you defeat the boss, you can get an appearance item with a high rarity by low chance along with the Season Coin. However, unlike items obtained from the Goddess' Blessed Cube, it'll be bound to the team.     Hunting in the Field   From episode 14-2, field monsters are very powerful, and you'll be able to get better items as a reward. The first floor of the Hunting ground will be removed, and you can get season coins and various seasonal items by hunting in the field. In addition, if you get lucky, you can get high-value Goddess Ichor as well as Evolution Stones.     Others   Bounty Hunt will be updated to Lv.480 and will defeat more powerful wanted monsters. Fedimian Public House, Goddess' Grace (Offering), Blockade Battle, and Weekly Boss Raid rewards will be renewed and items for the Achievement Shop will be added.       We are planning for the update around October. However, the schedule and details are subject to change and some of the contents may be updated sequentially.     Thank you.

The Lore You Know: Matador

The Matador is the star performer in bullfighting, using both a cape and sword to bring down a raging bull. This spectacle is one of the most well-known but also one of the most controversial customs of Spanish culture. However, today we will simply take a look at the history of the Matador -- to see how this practice came into existence and how the role of the Matador is reflected in our game.    It’s possible that the first recorded bullfight may have been from the Epic of Gilgamesh, where Gilgamesh dreams that he and his friend Enkidu stalked and hunted the Bull of Heaven and offered its heart to the sun god, Shamash. This act was a form of bull worship and animal sacrifice common in Mesopotamia and the Mediterranean region and is where bullfighting can trace its roots. Then it was seen again in the amphitheaters of Rome, where there were many human verses animal events during the rule of Emperor Claudius as a substitution for the short-lived ban on gladiatorial combat. Later in Medieval Spain, bullfighting was seen as a noble sport reserved only for the rich. And, while Spanish colonist took the practice of breeding cattle to the American colonies, the Pacific and Asia, areas of southern and southwestern France developed their own style of bullfighting.      The practice of fighting the bull on foot and with the flourishing of a cape and sword was developed by the matador, Francisco Romero, in Spain in 1726. During this time he introduced the world to the muleta, a stick with a red cloth hanging from it that is used during the third stage of bullfighting to hide the matador’s sword. The muleta is used to attract the bull through a series of passes. But it was the matador, Juan Belmonte, in 1914 who upped the ante and introduced the modern practice of skillfully using the muleta to get even closer to the bull’s horns than matadors before him had ever dared to do. From then on forward, matadors stopped using footwork to escape injury and risked their lives by letting the horns just barely glide past them as they directed the bull with the use of the muleta.     Now it is important to note that the muleta is different from the capote. The capote is magenta on one side and yellow on the other. It weighs between seven and nine pounds and will stand upright like a pyramid when placed on the ground in the right way. As mentioned before, while the muleta is used during the final stages of the bullfight, the capote is used during the “opening passes” where the bull enters the arena and the matador teaches the bull to follow the cape. If the passes done by the matador impresses the crowd, they will be rewarded with shouts of "Ole!"     Although bullfighting is controversial, it is still considered an art form, a tradition, and a highly ritualized cultural event. The matadors work to create an emotional connection with the audience and execute various formal moves during the fight that have not only meaning but also names that allude to the matador’s specific style and school of training. Bullfighting is indeed a spectacle and our Matador class entices us with their agile movements and impressive skills.   References The Editors. 2006. Encyclopaedia Britannica. Juan Belmonte. The Lore You Know: Nak Muay

The true origin of our hidden class, Nak Muay, is shrouded in mystery. Although Muay Thai dates back centuries, its roots and prominent figures are heavily debated amongst modern scholars. What can be agreed on, however, are its traditions and the existence of a man known as the father of Muay Thai.  Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) is the national sport and cultural martial art of Thailand, and those who practice its craft are called, Nak Muay. Muay Thai is a form of fighting that utilizes the whole body – hands for solid punches, elbows for sharp blows, knees for powerful strikes, and legs for lethal kicks – giving it the second name:  the “art of eight limbs.” This fighting style also consists of three different combat distances, each with their own techniques. The signature tattoos, wards, amulets, and ceremonies of the Nak Muay are there to increase the fighter’s good fortune and to ward off bad luck or whatever evil spirits that may follow them into the ring.  The origins of Muay Thai are still unclear as much of its history has been lost. However, there is a prominent figure from Muay Thai history that is celebrated every year on, March 17th. The father of Muay Thai, Nai Khanom Tom.      Nai Khanom Tom was a historical hero turned legend. In 1774, Nai Khanom Tom was one of thousands of Thai prisoners that were taken captive by King Mangra, the Burmese King, after the Burmese invaded and destroyed Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Thailand. Because the Burmese also had their own form of martial arts that was similar to Muay Thai, King Mangra, during a special festival, wanted to see which fighting style was superior. For this trial, Nai Khanom Tom was selected to go head to head against one of Burma’s best champions. Nai Khanom Tom prepared for the fight by performing the ritual of Wai Khru Ram Muay, where the fighter circles the ring in a counter-clockwise direction, prays at each corner, then performs a dance that expresses their respect to their teacher, parents, and ancestors.      The Burmese were mesmerized by the dance, thinking it to be some sort of black magic, and as such, when Nai Khanom Tom defeated his opponent, the referee deemed it invalid. The king then sent nine other fighters, one-by-one to go against Nai Khanom Tom and he defeated them all without taking a single break in-between. King Mangra was so impressed that he said, “Every part of you is blessed with venom, even with your bare hands you can fell ten opponents,” and granted Nai Khanom Tom his freedom and the freedom of his fellow Thais.     This famous story illustrates the best attributes of Muay Thai: the willingness to face against any odds and to win not only for oneself but for others -- thus proving that the path of the Nak Muay is a tough one, but its rewards, just as great.
